Grab that cape and fly

It was around this time last year when I had completed my final collection at University and the cape was a signature piece to my collection. In my designing process Gwyneth Paltrow hit the red carpet in this cape and dress and it was then that I knew I had created a successful  interesting idea!..me and Tom Ford obviously have a good eye for upcoming trends  ;)

Gwyneth Paltrow Oscars 2012
We saw Gwyneth Paltrow hit the red carpet at the Oscars last year In this beautiful Tom Ford white cape and dress, which at the time was a bit of a risk, but it was worth it. The cape rested on her shoulders perfectly and the slim-line shape skimmed her figure to create an all round beautiful silhouette.
Capes are making another appearance this year which is good to know when we head into colder seasons. However this time round the shapes are a lot sharper and have been given a different cut in the arms so that they can move more freely.

Celine A/W 13-14

This design by Celine takes on a new concept of the classic cape shape. With the use of the sleeves, they have been used as a bold detail in this look to create a knotted effect. I love the versatility of this cape combined with the new concept on the classic. It just goes to show how the cape can be transformed into new looks and shapes.

Victoria Beckham A/W 13-14
Victoria Beckhams A/W 13-14 collection was combined with structured silhouettes with a tailored cut. This design is a prime example of the new 'slit' sleeves that are being spotted throughout the new cape designs. It is an effective detail and also gives more practicality as you are able to move your arms more freely and not disrupt the capes shape.

Emma Bunton in Zara Dress

Emma Bunton was spotted at the weekend in this beautiful yellow Zara shape. Its fun and flirty with a relaxed shape. The colour pops and the slitted sleeves steps the dress away from being just a simple dress. It gives it a fun aspect with a chic and classic appeal.
